Library Policies
Below are some of the policies about the public's use of the library.
Circulation Policy
Most items in the library may be checked out for three weeks. Videos, however, can only be checked out for one week. Overdue fines on any item, including videos, are ten cents per day. There is no limit on how many items may be checked out at one time.
Computer/Internet Use
Anyone wishing to use our computers must fill out a user agreement form which will be kept on file at the library. Patrons under the age of 18 must have a parent or guardian sign for them, giving permission to use the Internet, and agreeing to the following policies:
COMPUTER USE POLICIES
(approved by the Library Board July 26, 2004)
In order that all patrons have access to our computers, the following policies have been added to our existing policies:
- When you sign up to use the computer you are signing up for one ½ hour session (thirty minutes).
- You may have four sessions on the computer in any one day. This means that an individual person can have two hours on the computer in one day. If no one else needs the computer, you can use it for two consecutive hours. However, if other patrons are waiting, you may be asked to stop using it after each of your four ½ hour sessions.
- After an individual has used the computer for two hours (four sessions) in any one day, their time for that day is used and they are welcome to return the next day for new sessions.
- Only one person may be at a computer at one time unless it is a young child being helped by someone older. Chairs are not to be moved from other parts of the library to the computer area.
- If you are not signed up, you will be the first to be asked to give up a computer if someone is waiting. You will be asked to give up the computer in this case even if you have not been on it for ½ hour.
- Priority use of the computer will be given to those patrons doing homework, research, and/or business related activities. This means that if you are playing a game, listening to music, etc. and someone wants to use the computer, you will have to wait until another computer opens up.
- The computer is not to be used for chat rooms, discussion groups, newsgroups, or listservs.
- Software programs may not be downloaded to the hard drive.
- Anyone engaged in ROUGH HOUSING, TEASING, OR OTHER DISRUPTIVE BEHAVIOR will be asked to leave at the discretion of the library staff. Patrons who are asked to leave may not return to the library that day.
- There is one computer that is reserved for patrons 18 and older. This computer is not to be used for patrons under 18 so that it can be available to adults and cannot be used for playing games, etc.
Donations
Anyone wishing to donate a book to the library in honor or in memory of a loved one is encouraged to do so. Book plates may be put in the book if you so request, with information about the honoree.
If you would like to donate books, videos, music CD's, or magazines to our annual book sale in the fall, feel free to stop by with your items anytime during our open hours.
