Get a Library Card

If you live in our service area, you may get a library card free of charge, as part of your tax-supported library service.

Your library card allows you to:

  • Borrow books from us and from most other public libraries in Illinois or beyond.
  • Use special online collections to find magazine articles and information you can't get just by searching the web.

To get a library card, you must come in to the library to fill out an application form.  You must provide proof of identification, such as a driver's license.  If you've recently moved and don't yet have a current picture id, please bring in a piece of mail or something which can verify your new address.  Your library card is free the first time; replacements for lost cards are $3.00.  Children under the age of 14 must have a parent or guardian signature.
