COVID-19 Information (Updated April 30, 2020)

To keep in line with Governor Pritzker's Shelter-In-Place order, the library will remain closed for the foreseeable future. As of today (April 30, 2020), that order has been extended through May 30, 2020.

Update (April 30, 2020): Due to the extension of this order, the library is extending its closure. However, during this time, administration, staff, and the board will be meeting regularly to decide on the safest plan moving forward for re-opening.

We are committed to maintaining the health and safety of our community, including our patrons and staff. We are closed to adhere to the Federal and IL State guidelines to maintain social distance, and do our part to stop the spread of COVID-19. We have recognized that staying closed is the best role we can play to discourage gathering and promote social distancing.

We know that this will be incredibly difficult for our patrons; the library serves as a valuable gathering space, and a place for people to access information as well as physical and virtual connections to others. We regret having to close these services to our patrons, but we are committed to protecting our staff and patrons so that when we do re-open, we are fully prepared to protecting your safety and the safety of the staff.

All items checked out to Western District Library patrons will be due on June 26, 2020. Please do not attempt to return items to the library; it is safest to keep them at home.

Cardholders are not allowed to place holds at this time.

The Western District Library has e-Resources available through Overdrive, Axis 360, Freegal, and Biblioboard. Access to these items has been extended to patrons who have fines or have expired accounts. If possible, we hope you can take advantage of these resources. Other services will be suspended at this time.

We will continue to alert you to any updates or changes through our website, social media platforms, and through email blasts.
