Access the Library
Our front door is located on 4th street with 7 steps. We also have a ramp on the backside of our library. Drive into the alley and you will be able to access parking and the ramp. If the door is locked or you need assistance, please ring the doorbell outside of the door or give us a call.
Get a library card
You just need to bring in a current ID with your address on it! Also bring in a driver's license, utility bill, lease agreement, or anything that can prove you live in our library district. Fill out an application and get the card the same day.
Order books online
Hover your mouse over Explore at the top of the page and press "Catalog", or go to https://www.prairiecat.info/library/2058 . Click on "My Account" and "Login". Now, you can use your library card in the top box labeled "Library Card Number" and in the bottom box labeled "Pin", use the last 4 digits of your library card. From here, you can browse the website, search for books/authors, and request books that will be sent to the library.
To request a book, click on "Request It" next to the book you want to request. If you want it sent to our library, make sure "I would like to pick up this title from:" says "Western District PL". If you wish to send it to another library in our PrairieCat system, select the library you would like to send it to. Once you have the library selected, press "Submit".
Renew Items Online
Follow the steps above to get logged into Prairie Cat. Once you're logged in, click on "My Account" in the upper right corner and click on "Checkouts". Once here, you can select the items in which you would like to renew on the check boxes in the "Renew" category. Once you have selected all the items you would like to renew, press "Renew Marked". Text will show up saying "The following item(s) will be renewed. Would you like to proceed?", press "yes". The screen will then show you your checkouts and if the renewals were successful.
Return books when the library is closed
We have 2 drop boxes! We have one located on the front of the building to the right of the stairs. We also have a drive-up drop box behind our building! Enter the alley behind our building and pull right up to our drop box. Sensory bins and puzzles may not be put in the drop boxes. They must be brought inside to the front desk.
To find our events, click on the "Calendar" tab at the top of this page. There, you can view all of our upcoming events and even filter what kind of events you would like to view (e.g. Children's programs, Young Adult Programs, Adult Programs, etc.). You can also RSVP for events on this page. Once you've found an event you would like to attend, click on RSVP and fill out the needed information.
Request a book we don't currently have
Send an email to email@example.com to recommend an item! Make sure you have all the information needed to clearly identify the item. We will do our best to get the item, but we cannot guarantee that the item will be ordered.

At the bottom of our website, you can fill out a form that will get you onto our newsletter! You can also call or stop in to be added to our newsletter! We now have printed newsletters at our desk as well!
