Reading Dragon & Friends
A Year-Round Reading Adventure for All Ages!
Discover the magic of reading with Reading Dragons & Friends, a new reading challenge designed to encourage literacy in a fun and creative way for kids, teens, and even adults!
There's no sign-up required. Just pick up a reading log at the library and start tracking your time spent reading. Whether you're reading to yourself, to someone else, or listening to an audiobook, every 30 minutes counts!

How It Works

-
Track Your Reading: Every 30 minutes of reading earns you one dragon trading card.
-
Collect Dragon Families: Each month, four dragon families will be available to collect, each with an egg, baby, teen, and adult. Read for 2 hours (4 squares in a row) to complete a family!
-
Choose Your Dragons: When you've completed a family, visit the library to select your cards. A librarian will initial your log to confirm your progress.
-
Keep Your Log: Don't turn in your reading log, hang on to it all year long. Bring it in whenever you're ready to collect cards!
-
New Dragons Every Month: At the end of each month, the current dragon breeds are retired. New ones will hatch, so check back often!
Bonus Card Opportunities
Want even more cards? Attend children's programs at the library to earn additional cards and grow your collection!
Battle With Your Dragons
Once your collection grows, you can challenge friends to dragon battles! Rules and instruction are included with your reading log.
This program is perfect for reluctant readers or anyone who wants to make reading more magical. No age limits! Everyone is welcome to join the fun!
